Beginners’ Guide

Within the very first hour of entering the game world, players can expect to acquire their first pet by completing the ‘First Pet’ quest, initiated by Master Zhao [160, 157] in Da Li. This quest introduces players to basic pet commands including summoning and resting. The later quest, ‘How to Catch a Pet’ initiated by Lily White [265, 129] teaches players how to catch a pet. For more information on these beginners’ quests, please visit our guide to the First 10 Levels.

By accessing the Skills menu (Alt+S) and selecting the ‘Normal’ tab, players may access the ‘Summon pet’, ‘Take back pet’ and ‘Capture pet’ common skills. These skills may be dragged into the Shortcut Menu Bar for easy access. The ‘Summon’ and ‘Rest’ functions may also be accessed through the Pet Menu screen.

By accessing the Pet Menu screen (Alt+X), players may view their pets, assign levelling-up points, and may choose to free their pets if they should so wish.

Just like the Character interface, the Pet menu also shows vital statistics such as HP, XP, and importantly for pets — joy.

Joy

The joy rating of a pet is a direct representation of how ‘happy’ your pet is. If a pet dies its joy rating will fall. You can restore joy points by purchasing joy-enhancing items from the pet store such as Yellow Sling or Colourful Balls.

It is important to pay attention to your pet’s joy rating. If a pet’s joy rating falls below 60, you will not be able to summon it.
