Voodoo
The followers of Voodoo are a rebellious, aggressive people. Not wanting to submit to Western Xia, they live north of the great wall and rely on their own tenacious spirit to survive away from mainstream society.
Though they are not often the strongest, they are often the most feared warriors in battle. Their impeccable spirit defence makes them tough adversaries, and their naturally aggressive nature makes them more than willing to try and prove themselves in battle against other classes.
‘Time is a predator that stalks us all our lives.’
Voodoo Philosophy
For a rebellious people, the warriors of Voodoo are remarkably devout. They worship their leader Master Ting as a god, and for all their mysterious practices have an extremely close connection with the Spirit world, for through it they are able to gain greater power.
As befits their close association with nature and the Spirit world, the warriors of Voodoo take their philosophy very seriously. The five divine creatures — snakes, scorpions, clams, centipedes and geckos — are all central parts of the Voodoo belief system, and though to outsiders their goals may seem eldritch and mystifying, those who know Voodoo well can attest to the holy aspirations of this most interesting of classes.
Voodoo Sea
The gloomy lands south of Dun Huang are notoriously hostile, rendering them almost inhabitable to normal human beings. Here, amidst the dangerous flora and fauna of the rich and varied oasis, the Voodoo class has made its home. With its abundance of venomous creatures, and its calm, mystical serenity, the Voodoo Sea is the perfect location for Voodoo warriors to practice their arcane arts of poison-craft safe from the influence of the outside world.
Class Characteristics
With their home set deep in the heart of the inhospitable Voodoo Sea, it is no wonder that the warriors of Voodoo should seek to make use of the abundant resources their home has to offer. From the earliest days of their initiation, every Voodoo warrior trains in the art of poison making until they are masters of their art. It is this intense dedication to their art-form that means the followers of Voodoo have an unsurpassed level of poison-craft that not even the Beggars’ Alliance can hope to match.
Combat Characteristics
The followers of Voodoo may not necessarily be the strongest warriors in a battle, but they are often the most frightening. As befits a class that spends much of its time crafting poisons, the Voodoo style of martial arts focuses heavily on the use of poison attacks. When combined with their naturally high magical defence, this makes warriors of Voodoo very tough opponents.
Like their combat style, their magic is also equally powerful. The Voodoo practitioner’s intense connection to the Spirit world allows them to inflict damage through their ghostly minions, and cast powerful curses on their enemies which drain health over time. Blood is required to speak with the Voodoo gods, so they ride a Yak which can be sacrificed if there are no enemies nearby.
