Shaolin

With the rise of Buddhism in China, the temple of Shaolin has fast become one of the most popular classes in the realm.

One of the most widely recognized and celebrated Kung Fu styles in the world – and one of the foundations for all modern Kung Fu — the followers of Shaolin are both respected for their virtue and feared for their resilience.

‘Avoid, rather than check. Check, rather than hurt. Hurt, rather than maim. Maim, rather than kill. For all life is precious, and none can be replaced.’

Shaolin Philosophy

The martial arts style of the Shaolin temple has a profound foundation, for it is said that ‘Divine Protection’ makes its followers some of the most powerful in the martial arts world.

Though they are powerful, the followers of Shaolin are renowned for their selfless nature. Like the Taoists, they wander the land devoting themselves to just causes and helping those in need. Though they are modest by nature, they should never be underestimated. Theirs is a modesty born of great power and self-discipline.

Shaolin Temple

Located in a leafy wood north of Mt. Sanctity, the Shaolin Temple is the physical embodiment of Shaolin philosophy.

Though it may be the most famous temple in the land, much of it is hidden behind meter-thick brick walls that guard the monastery and training grounds. Within the walls the great Pagodas stand tall, pointing to the heavens and reminding the follows of Shaolin of their temple’s divine aspirations.

Class Characteristics

The holy warrior-monks of Shaolin are blessed with many class characteristics, none more powerful than the Enshrining skill. Enshrining is a form of pharmacy available to Shaolin wherein followers carry a special crystal pellet which has curing effects for many diseases. Not only can Enshrining save people, but it can also be used to defend from attack.

Combat Characteristics

The Shaolin fighting style is both practical and efficient. By using simplistic, natural moves, the warrior-monks of Shaolin are able to generate great power. The Shaolin can cause a large amount of damage when they attack their enemies, and their moves often contain the element thunder.

Blows that would stun most other warriors are easily shrugged off by Shaolin adepts. The followers of Shaolin have the highest defense and health ratings of any of the nine classes. Fists, fangs and even blades can be deflected with ease by these most resilient warriors.
