Minstrel

Though they are relatively few in number, the Minstrel class practise one of the most ancient forms of Kung Fu in the realm. Unlike many of their rival classes who favour physical or ranged attacks, the Minstrels favour one of the most difficult — but most deadly — art-forms of all: traps.

A cunning, solitary class, Minstrels laugh merrily as they confound their victims with their strange powers and lure them into their deadly traps.

‘Running, he saves his own life and that of the tiger. This is not cowardice; it is the love of life.’

Minstrel Philosophy

While their Kung Fu is difficult to master, it is a martial art steeped in history and tradition. Unlike many other classes, Minstrels have interests that go far beyond those of mere Kung Fu. Many Minstrels have secret political agendas or even aspirations of property and wealth. It never pays to underestimate the guile or cunning of a Minstrel class warrior.

Minstrel Cave

Minstrel Cave is a cold, dark place, and from its mouth a distinctive chill emerges to warn travellers of the dangers lurking within.

Perhaps surprisingly then, the interior of Minstrel Cave is far simpler and cleaner than one might expect. The cave itself is full of narrow pathways, steep drops and stalagmites that hang ominously overhead. To an outsider it is a place more like a treasure cave than a suitable place for living, but for the Minstrels who live there, there really is no other place they’d rather be.

Class Characteristics

As befits their nature and their chosen method of combat, Minstrels have access to a range of class skills that help them set their traps. The Secret Mechanism Skill is one such class skill that the Minstrels work to master, while the skill of Urbanity is the standard of culture by which the Minstrels operate. Together they make a complete circle.

Combat Characteristics

The Minstrel style of Kung Fu is a difficult art-form to master. It requires not only great skill but also great understanding in order to engage opponents without ever having any direct contact with them. This is both the greatest challenge, and the greatest reward of being a Minstrel.

As an attack, Minstrels favour those of Spirit and fire. They have skills that allow them both to increase their defence against fire attacks, and also to increase their chance of scoring a critical hit. Their traps are often both devious and exceptionally deadly, and are often just as suitable for taking on groups of enemies as they are for silencing lone warriors Minstrels may encounter on their travels.
